EWOMI Hosts End-of-Year Empowerment Program for Widows and Orphans in Gauraka Community, Niger State

Gauraka, Niger State – December 2021

Elijah’s Widows and Orphans Mission (EWOMI), a non-governmental organization committed to uplifting the lives of widows and orphans, held its annual end-of-year empowerment program in Gauraka Community, Niger State, in December 2021. The event, which brought together widows, orphans, and community leaders, aimed to provide support, relief, and hope to those in need.

The program featured various activities, including skill acquisition training, financial support distribution, and donation of essential supplies such as food items, clothing, and educational materials for orphans. As part of its commitment to sustainable empowerment, EWOMI trained widows in income-generating skills, equipping them with the tools needed to achieve financial independence and improve their livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Elijah Obaka John, the founder of EWOMI, emphasized the organization’s dedication to being a “Voice to the Voiceless.” He highlighted the importance of community-driven initiatives in addressing socio-economic challenges faced by widows and orphans.

“We believe that empowering widows and supporting orphans is not just an act of charity but a responsibility we all share as a society. This program is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind, especially those who have lost their primary means of support,” said Ambassador John.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude for the initiative, with many widows acknowledging how the training and financial assistance would help them become self-reliant. Several orphans also received educational support, ensuring they continue their studies despite financial constraints.

The Gauraka Community leaders applauded EWOMI for its unwavering support and called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to contribute to such humanitarian efforts.

EWOMI’s end-of-year program in Gauraka is one of many initiatives the NGO has undertaken across Nigeria. With over 5,630 orphans impacted through its Back to School program and more than 15,000 widows and women empowered through skills acquisition and give-back initiatives, EWOMI continues to make a significant difference in communities across the country.

The organization remains committed to expanding its reach, ensuring that widows and orphans receive the necessary support to lead dignified and fulfilling lives.
