On the 11th of July, 2025, the Elijah’s Widows and Orphans Mission International (EWOMI) held its impactful “Pad a Girl Child” outreach at Christian Secondary School Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, reaching over 500 female students with free sanitary pads and vital menstrual hygiene education.
The outreach was led by Mr. Trinita O. Obu, National Coordinator of EWOMI, who reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to supporting girl-child education, health, and dignity. In his address, he emphasized how menstrual poverty continues to affect school attendance and overall well-being, and how EWOMI is working to change that narrative.
RN ImaEtte O. Okon, National Health Coordinator, delivered a powerful and engaging lecture on menstrual hygiene management. She educated the girls on proper pad usage, personal hygiene during menstruation, and safe disposal methods. Her session also tackled the stigma surrounding menstruation, encouraging the girls to embrace their cycle with pride and confidence.
Also present were Mr. Goderich Samuel Akpan (South South Regional Coordinator), Mr. Iniobong Obed (Akwa Ibom State Coordinator), Mrs Humble Udoema (Akwa Ibom Children/ITU Local government Coordinator), and Mr. Iniodu Bassey Ndada, CEO of Inigen and GLOESEL, who partnered with EWOMI to make the outreach a success. Their presence and contributions reinforced the importance of community and private sector involvement in social impact initiatives.
The event left a lasting impression on both the students and staff of Christian Secondary School. The girls walked away not only with pads in their hands but with knowledge, confidence, and the assurance that they are not alone. with cash support from our partner Mr Iniodu Bassey.
EWOMI continues to stand as a Voice to the Voiceless, and this outreach is yet another testament to its mission to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity.
