Nigeria – 2024
Elijah’s Widows and Orphans Mission (EWOMI), a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting widows and orphans, successfully carried out its Back-to-School program, distributing essential school materials to children of widows. The initiative aimed to ease the financial burden on widowed mothers while ensuring their children have the necessary resources to excel in school.
As part of the program, EWOMI provided exercise books, school bags, pencils, pens, erasers, and other stationery supplies to children from vulnerable backgrounds. This effort was designed to encourage school attendance, improve learning conditions, and promote equal educational opportunities.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Elijah Obaka John, the founder of EWOMI, emphasized the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering future generations. “Every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their family’s financial situation. By providing these school materials, we are investing in the future of these children and giving them the tools they need to succeed,” he stated.
Widows who benefited from the program expressed deep gratitude, noting that the support would relieve them of the financial strain of purchasing school supplies. Many children shared their excitement, expressing their eagerness to begin the school year with new materials.
Community leaders and educators commended EWOMI’s commitment to education and humanitarian service, urging other organizations and individuals to support such impactful initiatives.
EWOMI’s Back-to-School program is one of many efforts aimed at uplifting widows and orphans across Nigeria. Through educational support, skill acquisition programs, and financial assistance, the organization continues to make a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable families.
EWOMI remains committed to expanding its outreach and ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the education they deserve.
