Gauraka, Niger State – 2019
Elijah’s Widows and Orphans Mission (EWOMI), a non-governmental organization committed to uplifting vulnerable groups, successfully held a Women Empowerment Program in Gauraka Community, Niger State, in 2019. The initiative aimed to provide widows and underprivileged women with the necessary skills, resources, and financial support to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency.
The program featured skill acquisition training in various trades, including tailoring, bead-making, soap production, and small-scale business management. Additionally, participants received mentorship and startup capital to help them launch their businesses and sustain their livelihoods.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Elijah Obaka John, the founder of EWOMI, emphasized the importance of empowering women as a means of fostering community development. “When we empower women, we empower entire families and communities. Our goal is to equip them with the tools they need to become financially independent and lead fulfilling lives,” he stated.
Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting how the training and financial support would positively impact their lives. Community leaders in Gauraka commended EWOMI for its dedication to uplifting women and urged other organizations and individuals to support similar initiatives.
