Kafanchan, Kaduna State – April 2020
Elijah’s Widows and Orphans Mission (EWOMI), a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering widows and orphans, marked the Easter season with a large-scale food distribution program in Kafanchan Community, Kaduna State, in April 2020. The initiative was part of EWOMI’s ongoing commitment to providing relief and support to vulnerable groups, particularly widows facing economic hardship.
The event saw hundreds of widows receiving essential food items, including rice, beans, garri, cooking oil, and other staples, to help them and their families celebrate Easter without the burden of food insecurity. Volunteers and community leaders assisted in the smooth distribution, ensuring that the relief packages reached those most in need.
Speaking during the distribution, Ambassador Elijah Obaka John, the founder of EWOMI, reiterated the organization’s mission to be a “Voice to the Voiceless” and emphasized the importance of supporting widows, especially during festive periods when financial struggles can be more pronounced.
“Easter is a time of hope and renewal, and we want to ensure that widows in Kafanchan Community can celebrate without worrying about their next meal. At EWOMI, we believe that no one should be left to suffer alone, and we will continue to stand by those in need,” he stated.
The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude, with many sharing how the food assistance alleviated their struggles during a difficult period exacerbated by economic challenges. Community leaders also praised EWOMI’s consistent humanitarian efforts and urged more organizations and individuals to support similar initiatives.
This Easter food distribution in Kafanchan is one of many outreach programs EWOMI has conducted across Nigeria. The organization has impacted thousands of widows and orphans through empowerment programs, skill acquisition training, and educational support, making a tangible difference in disadvantaged communities.
EWOMI remains committed to expanding its reach and fostering hope among the most vulnerable members of society, ensuring that widows and orphans receive the care and support they deserve.
