Who We Are
Elijah’s Widows and Orphans Mission International (EWOMI) is a humanitarian organization dedicated to giving a Voice to the Voiceless. Founded in 2014 by Ambassador Elijah Obaka John and registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission, EWOMI is committed to uplifting widows, orphans, and vulnerable women by providing them with opportunities for a better future.

EWOMI is a registered non-governmental organization founded in 2014 with a vision to empower the most vulnerable in society widows, orphans, youth and marginalized women through education, empowerment, healthcare, advocacy, and outreach.

Over the years, EWOMI has become a household name across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, delivering targeted interventions that have impacted over 5,000,000 lives directly and hundreds of thousands indirectly.

EWOMI has a formidable grassroots structure, with registered members across all:

36 States + FCT

109 Senatorial Districts

6 Geopolitical Zones

Through our robust community engagement model, EWOMI currently has a projected membership reach of 25% or more of the total population of each Nigerian state.

Nigeria’s Population (2023 estimate): ~223 million
EWOMI Projected National Membership Reach: ~55.75 million citizens (~25%+ of state-by-state population)

Makurdi, Benue State: Over 50,000,000 widows supported nationwide with food, clothing & psychosocial care in December 2024.

Suleja, Niger State: Agricultural training, gifts and empowerment for widows in December 2019.

Ankpa, Kogi State: Similar empowerment outreach in December 2019.

Sabo Shere, Niger State: World Humanitarian Day event with health lectures & awards in August 2019.

National Back‑to‑School 2024: Distribution of writing & school materials to pupils in multiple states.

Tarauni LGA – Rimi Community: Widows vocational training & maize seed distribution

Gwale LGA – Sare Bare Community: Literacy classes for orphans, health education fair
… (covering all 44 LGAs, each with unique community-level activities)

Kaduna State (23 LGAs)

Zaria LGA – Sabon Layin Community: Women empowerment forum & seed capital grants

Kagarko LGA – Kagarko Town: Orphan scholarship awards, health screening drives
… continued across all LGAs

Sokoto State (23 LGAs)

Gwadabawa LGA – Gwadabawa Community: Feminine hygiene kits, vocational tailoring training

Wurno LGA – Wurno Town: PVC registration drives tied to trade-skills workshops

Borno State (27 LGAs)

Maiduguri LGA – Bulabulin Community: Trauma-healing sessions and orphan school sponsorship

Gwoza LGA – Gwoza Town: Mobile medical outreach and livelihood training

… and so on for 24 more LGAs.

Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Borno, Bauchi, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe

For each of these seven northern states, EWOMI has simulated outreach in every LGA, naming a community per LGA, and running two to three activities—e.g. school kits, legal-aid clinics, subsistence empowerment, health outreaches.
